. You may have noticed the style and formatting of the text on TLC-Life-Center's websites do not follow the tradition and expected formatting. I assure you that this is a function of intention and not grammatical ineptitude. Our styles are designed first and foremost for readability. Here are just two examples. You'll notice that for ease of reading, we have three blank spaced at the end of each sentence and occasionally, we'll have a second space after a comma. You'll also notice that we frequently include a hyphen after an adverb to insure clarity. Protocol: incredibly brilliant Our Style: incredibly-brilliant. Typos, Misspellings, and Grammatical Errors: The TLC-Life-Center websites are a work in progress. Sentences, paragraphs and even full pages are frequently updated by this author and go on line without the blessings and the wise eyes of an editor. Thus, you'll all-too-often find typos, such as words in the wrong tense (i.e. "do" instead of "did," "had" instead of "have," "form in place of "from." et cetera.) You'll also notice the phrases will appear underlined and in italics where grammatical protocol says they should not emphasized in this way. Again, the priority is clarity over protocol. . |

. Another major problem is formatting errors. Because I am a visionary and not a technitian or a computer geek, my websites were originally created using Microsoft's website building program, FrontPage. I used this program because of it's versatility and because did the technical formatting for me. Once I learned the basic rules of the program, I was able to turn off the automatic formatting features and use about half a dozen of my own text formats. This worked reasonably well, until Microsoft's upgrading forced me out of FrontPage. I purchased Expression Web which has turned out, at least for me, to be users nightmare. It is advertised as if the automatic style-creating aspect of the program was an improvement. It's more accurately described as having a built-in computer virus that cannot be removed. What they call CSS, (Cascading Style Sheets) turns everything I type into style, so when I change something simple, such as changing a font size, it also changes one or more formatting aspects in several other paragraphs. Also, there's no way to know what will show up on line until I see my pages through the web browser's eyes. Although it has some of the best features of a sophisticated website building program, it also has some of the worst features. In spite of searching the program's incredibly-inadequate and deficient help file for a shut off command, in spite of searching the web for answers, and after asking everyone on know, I've still found no way to stop it from creating new styles. At last count, the program had created 365 styles, and it's still creating more. When I approach, Microsoft, their automatic, computer-generated, response program informs me that I must sign a long and involved assistance contract and pay them a sizable fee, before anybody there will even talk to me. I've purchased and am learning to use DreamWeaver, but there's still a significant learning curve that I have not yet gotten beyond. The shareware program KompoZer is still not very sophisticate, so please bear with us until the formatting problem is resolved. . |
